Profile

Results and relationships matter to Colin – and to the growing circle of clients he serves across the Northwest, in Hawaii and Nevada. An enthusiastic and experienced advisor, he brings open ears, an open heart and open mind to each client relationship.

While diverse in their talents and aspirations, Colin’s clients are thoughtful, financially astute, and share his entrepreneurial spirit. With lives and money in motion, they include successful tech entrepreneurs and their employees, business owners with multiple ventures, individuals experiencing divorce, families, and non-profit organizations whose missions Colin supports and admires.

Rare among advisors is Colin’s focus on helping clients lead healthy lives and build wealth not just for a single generation, but for the long arc of their legacies. Working closely with business owners, he helps with exit and succession planning strategies, in advance of key decisions.

“I want to know what’s important to each client,” Colin says. “What do they hope to accomplish now and five to ten years out? What does ‘retirement’ look like? Do they want financial freedom? Change the world, or both? How much money do they think they need? I help clients plan and prepare for the life they want, the circumstances they expect and, especially, those they don’t.”

A lifetime learner, Colin feels that his rigorous industry training gives him an extra degree of knowledge and know-how. He holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER, CFP® certification and the Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®) designation. In fact, Colin’s skillsets help him work on a continuous basis with clients – from the goal-setting stage of their relationships, through the formulation of their financial strategies.

When it comes to investments, Colin takes direction from the firm’s Chief Investment Office, to formulate client portfolios that often include multiple asset classes – equities, bonds, and alternative investments*. To align clients’ tax-minimization and estate planning strategies, Colin can coordinate with their CPAs and attorneys. He also can provide access to Bank of America for residential and securities-based lending.

Before joining Merrill in 2022, Colin spent seven years as a private client advisor and four years as an advisor at J.P. Morgan. He also worked at Met Life Securities and Wells Fargo and began his career in 2009. Colin holds a Bachelor’s degree at Seattle University with a double major in Finance and Business Economics.

Like his clients, Colin is generous with his time and resources. He has long served the community, working with the University of Hawaii. He also cares deeply about encouraging clients’ mental and physical health. Outside of the office, Colin enjoys running, hiking, lifting weights and playing golf. His passions also span the arts and sports – opera, ballet, dance and poetry.
