David Filosa is based in Merrill's Fifth Avenue office and focuses on working with high income/high net worth finance professionals and wealthy families. David practiced law for 10 years which included a focus in trusts & estates and real estate. He has worked in financial services for over 20 years. Before joining Merrill, David worked at firms including Mizuho Corporate Bank Ltd and SF Solutions, LLC where he designed structured finance solutions for investment managers. He also was a principal at Morningside Securities which in addition to the analysis of distressed assets, provided advisory services to start-up companies.
David is a qualified Portfolio Manager who can help clients pursue their objectives by managing on a discretionary basis his own Personalized or Defined Strategies, which may incorporate individual stocks and bonds, Merrill Lynch Wealth Management model portfolios, and third-party investment strategies.
David graduated from Columbia University in 1982, where he earned a BA in Economics. He received his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in 1991. David also holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® certification awarded by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. David does not provide legal advice in his current role at Merrill.
David is on the Board of Directors of the Columbia College Alumni Association and the Society of Columbia Graduates and is a trustee of the Columbia University Club Foundation. David is also a founding member of the King's Crown Rowing Association and he rows with Teaneck Rowing Club.
