Brandon Portell is a Financial Advisor who works with individuals and families seeking a knowledgeable, dependable partner for the financial decisions that shape their lives and legacies. He is particularly drawn to working with people who have overcome challenges, built something meaningful through discipline and hard work, and want to use their success intentionally.
Brandon approaches each relationship as a collaboration. He takes time to understand what matters to each client, where they stand today, and what may be preventing them from reaching their goals. He then helps organize the pieces into a clear financial strategy, drawing on specialized resources when a client’s needs require additional expertise. His goal is not simply to present a plan, but to help clients understand the reasoning behind it. Brandon believes that uncertainty often creates fear, while education can create the confidence needed to make thoughtful decisions and remain focused through changing circumstances.
Before becoming a Financial Advisor, Brandon served as a Financial Center Manager. His daily conversations with individuals and families, combined with lessons from his own financial journey, led him to pursue a role in which he could help people more directly and comprehensively. Today, he holds the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor™, CRPC™ and Accredited Wealth Management Advisor™, AWMA® designations.
Outside of work, Brandon is newly married and the father of three children. He and his family are actively involved in the Troy community, and he is passionate about contributing in Wentzville and Troy, whether by offering his perspective or simply lending a hand. He is also an avid NFL fan and a lifelong student of financial topics, with a particular interest in markets, economic policy, and personal finance. For Brandon, that curiosity extends well beyond his profession. Understanding how financial decisions affect people, families, and communities is both his work and one of his greatest personal interests.
Families often face many of the same decisions as successful businesses. They have assets, liabilities, cash flow, competing priorities, long-term objectives, and decisions that may affect future generations.
I think of my role as serving as a personal board of directors. I help clients step back from individual financial questions, understand how the pieces relate to one another, consider the trade-offs involved, and make decisions within the context of a broader strategy.
That does not mean I have every answer by myself. When a situation calls for additional expertise, I can draw upon specialized resources and help clients consider the different perspectives that may be relevant to the decision. My responsibility is to help bring those pieces together so the client can move forward with greater clarity and purpose.
