Geoff Soper’s wealth management career has spanned more than 35 years and generations of extended families. He continues to garner respect from the industry and a largely referred clientele residing on both coasts.
Geoff and his team cater to the specialized needs of a select circle of clients – founders and leaders at technology and life sciences companies, successful business owners and their employees, as well as corporate entities. Though well-educated and financially astute, most clients lack the time or desire to manage their wealth, given their various responsibilities and busy schedules.
“We listen closely to clients and take time to gain a deep understanding of their goals and what they deem most important,” Geoff explains. “We provide guidance and financial strategies that take them from where they are, to where they want to go – while at the same time, streamlining their financial tasks. Put simply, clients’ goals become ours.”
A majority of The Soper Team’s clients are highly accomplished and want more time to focus on the people and passions in their lives. They recognize that effective wealth planning demands multiple disciplines and skillsets.
“Our ‘total wealth management’ approach addresses each corner of a client’s financial picture, from goals-based planning including retirement, portfolio and tax-minimization strategies to access to banking and lending solutions from Bank of America. We strive to have a meaningful and lasting impact on the lives of our clients, and their families.” Geoff points out.
Having helped manage clients’ wealth and emotions amid the volatility of 1987, 2000, 2008, 2020 and 2022, Geoff is proud that virtually all those clients remain with him today. He believes that’s due in large part to his use of risk management strategies and helping clients remain disciplined in following a strategy they understand.
When it comes to investments, The Soper Team designs portfolios that align with each client’s comfort with risk, investment timeline, goals and liquidity needs. Drawing upon the intellectual capital of the Chief Investment Office and award-winning analysts – in addition to our own research– the team customizes each client’s portfolio with what may include Merrill model portfolios, ETFs and index funds, as well as equities, bonds and alternative investments managed through the Merrill Investment Advisory Program.
Like their clients, Geoff and his team hail from several generations, allowing them to relate well to clients’ situations and passions. The team also adheres to a common purpose – to deliver exceptional advice and guidance responsively and in the most respectful manner.
Geoff’s team includes Wealth Planner, Michaela Curry, who focuses on creating custom plans for clients and prospects, accounting for their distinct goals and circumstances. Wealth Management Client Associate Livvy Lathrop, and Registered Wealth Management Client Associate, Ben Furfari enhance the client experience through proactive communication and assistance with day to day client needs.
