With the goal of helping clients determine their “why’s and what’s possible,” Allen assists a growing circle of successful individuals and generations of their families. Having worked in the medical field before entering financial services, he has attracted chiropractors, dentists and other medical professionals who value his understanding of their needs and his ability to introduce the firm’s practice solutions.

“For me, it’s about the relationship,” Allen says. “I genuinely care about clients and bringing them unbiased, thoughtful guidance. Regardless of the issue or time of day, I encourage clients to call – they have my cell number. I want to be their ‘go-to’ person – someone they feel comfortable calling.”

Taking clients’ emotion out of investing is critical to Allen. Listening to what clients say are their most cherished goals and greatest fears, he is able to customize an integrated financial strategy that addresses their vision for themselves and the people they love. He reminds clients to be concerned only with what they can control.

When it comes to investments, Allen only recommends holdings that he can explain in simple terms – so that clients can understand what they own and why. Using Merrill research*, he creates portfolios across asset classes, taking a long-term view to help achieve desired results with minimal risk.

Beyond each client, Allen dedicates time to meeting with entire families. Putting a premium on organizing a family’s financial affairs in order to help enhance their generational wealth, Allen is detail-oriented – often reviewing multiple documents to help clients pass along wealth efficiently. He also finds time to educate “the next generation” in clients’ families, so that the lessons of hard work, good financial habits and family values can be shared.

Given Allen’s previous career spent as a medical representative, he is well versed in the opportunities and challenges specific to those in the medical field. He explains, “I came to Merrill for two primary reasons. First, was the suite of services and solutions I could offer to chiropractors, dentists and others. Second was the fact that I could enhance clients’ wealth on both sides of their balance sheets, by giving them access to Bank of America for residential, securities-based and business lending.”

For Allen, his “why” is his family – his wife (who co-founded a private school system, Acton Academy Fishers, and now serves as head-of school), their two daughters (one who will be attending Butler University) one son, and miniature Labradoodle. Allen and his family attend I-town Church, where he’s active in delivering food and other community projects. He is also a runner whose training follows his own investment advice (slow wins the race). Allen graduated from Hanover College with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications and a minor in Latin.
