My clients are my people – fellow union members and others who deserve an advisor that has walked and worked in their shoes. My mission is to build strong bonds with clients and connect them to their financial goals.

Tyren is not a typical financial advisor. He is a dues-paying union member who attends meetings and a former ironworker, firefighter, baseball player and business owner. Still, he brings clients and their families more than ten years of wealth management experience and a deep appreciation for their lifestyles and livelihoods.

Catering to a growing circle of hardworking clients in the Chicago area, Tyren has attracted active and former business owners (some with 401k plans), salespeople and many union members who share his passion – working with their hands and seeing a finished product at the end of a long day. He also works with unions and assists with their Taft Hartley retirement plans.

Tyren’s “coaching” approach is inspired by his days as a baseball player and his parents. Tyren’s mother was a teacher and his father coached in the Minor Leagues. Following in their footsteps, he prefers to educate at every opportunity and encourage clients to create positive financial habits that allow for steady saving, investing and following the overall strategy he crafts on their behalf.

Critical to Tyren is asking clients questions, “Why are you here – and why now? How do you describe your situation and your goals? Why did you do ‘this’ for a living? Tell me about your kids or grandkids. Do you have a vacation home? Where do you vacation now? And do you want to travel in retirement?”

Working closely with both spouses whenever possible, he accounts for their personal visions of retirements and what they want for their children. Before making any recommendations, he also examines clients’ taxable and retirement accounts, as well as their pension plans, liabilities, insurance coverage and other areas of their financial picture that may need further attention.

“At Merrill, my tool belt includes a robust investment platform to help meet my clients’ needs – using recommendations from our Chief Investment Office and our award-winning analysts, access to Bank of America for residential and securities-based lending, education borrowing for apprentices, and marine financing. With a client’s permission, I can align my tax minimization and estate planning strategies with their CPA and attorney.”

Tyren holds a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership and Supervision from Purdue University Northwest and a Master’s in Business Administration from Indiana University. He also holds a place in his heart for rehabbing homes, playing basketball, sand volleyball and especially, baseball. In fact, he played third base for Joliet Junior College and Purdue Fort Wayne. Tyren resides in Crown Point, Indiana with his better half, Marsha, and her two sons, whom he coaches in several sports. He also participates in fundraisers for Methodist Hospital and is active with the Crossroads Regional Chamber of Commerce.
