A Miami native, Mercedes and her husband, Landi, have lived in Naples since 1992. Their daughter, Beatrice, and their son, Junior, are math teachers at Lely High School. Beatrice, Junior, his wife Kenia, and their daughters Andrea and Adianna are also Naples residents.
