The people who engage with Jennifer come from many diverse paths, and her business has grown primarily through referrals. She counts corporate executives, teachers, farmers, doctors, attorneys, journalists, and caregivers among her clients. The scope of these professions testifies to Jennifer’s versatility and every relationship stands on its own. There is no ‘one size fits all’ for Jennifer, and she brings a focused attention and informed perspective to each of these relationships.
Jennifer also includes several multi-generational families among her ‘people.’ It’s not uncommon for her to have intimate knowledge of the individuals, the finances and the family dynamics of up to four generations of a family tree. Her depth of understanding of the family’s values and how each person, in each generation, views money allows those families to look to her as a trusted presence and sounding board in their lives.
“My goal,” Jennifer says, “is to reduce any anxiety my clients may feel about their finances. I want them to know there’s a plan for what they want to accomplish and how we’re going to get there on both a personal and a professional level.’ More than 30 years of experience at the firm gives Jennifer the perspective to help guide clients to a more secure financial framework, one that allows them to gain confidence in the direction and management of their wealth.
To this end, Jennifer takes the time to explain that financial management is not just about account performance. Investments, wealth transfer, and estate planning, plus saving for college and life after retirement, are obvious conversations. Topics Jennifer brings up regularly include defining a financial risk tolerance, the cost of long-term health care, whether or not a job transition is appropriate, and how to help others through a charitable plan. Generous with her time, Jennifer spends a few days each month traveling to visit her clients who have moved out of state.
The industry insiders would call Jennifer a “Merrill baby.” Her father joined Merrill in 1964, and it was watching his dedication to his clients that inspired Jennifer to follow in his footsteps. After college graduation and a brief waitressing/bartending/skiing stint in Colorado, she has worked at Merrill since 1991. This long tenure has allowed her to develop a deep network of relationships both inside and outside the firm. A committed mentor, Jennifer works with local colleges and universities to offer mentorships to interested juniors and seniors.
Jennifer has earned national recognition for her work and is named among Forbes “Top Women Wealth Advisor Best-in-State” list, 2024. (Published on February 8, 2024; rankings based on data as of September 30, 2023.)
