George holds the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor™, CRPC™ designation. He is also a Retirement Accredited Financial Advisor holding the Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor, CPF) designation for business plans such as 401(k)'s. He holds an insurance license for life policies, annuities and Long Term Care. He is well supported by a team of firm specialists in wealth and estate strategies, insurance, lending and home financing. George holds a B.Sc. in Physics and is a graduate of the University of Washington (M.Sc.). He did Ph.D. related work at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has formerly worked as a Senior Scientist in scientific research support of NASA, the Naval Research Lab and NOAA, in projects in the Earth and Planetary Sciences. George has been licensed in the financial services industry since 1998 and has been with Merrill since 2006. He lives in Washington DC, where he stays active in community and charitable work. He supports the National Gallery of Art ("The Circle"), the Little Flower Parish and School, Mater Dei School, Stone Ridge School and The Georgetown Preparatory School. He is a member of the University Club of Washington DC. George is a Senior Portfolio Advisor, who, in addition to providing traditional advice and guidance, can draw from his experience to help clients pursue their objectives by building and managing custom investment strategies, selecting from a wide range of Merrill model portfolios and third-party investment strategies. When servicing clients through the firm’s Investment Advisory Program, a Senior Portfolio Advisor may manage those strategies on a discretionary basis.
In the nonprofit and corporate sector, George brings his professional knowledge together with a team of firm specialists in Philanthropy, Wealth Strategies, Insurance and Asset Management. His team approach utilizes Merrill’s open architecture of discipline-specific Money Managers for all asset classes - equities, fixed income and cash equivalents -, as well as Exchange-Traded and Mutual Funds, Insurance, Annuities and Alternative Investments*, including Hedge Funds.
George's team can successfully cover both the organization’s investment accounts and 401k/403b or other retirement accounts. The primary goal is a careful balance of safety and growth selected through full and frequent consultation with the client's finance committee, a thorough understanding of their investment policy and applying those principles to building a risk-managed investment platform.
