Brien grew up on a large farming and ranching operation in the San Luis Valley near Moffat, Colorado where he learned the importance of hard work, discipline, problem solving, and being relentless in the pursuit of your goals. His mother is a retired family practice doctor who taught him to be compassionate, analytical, and always take care of others. His father was an owner-operator of Mirage Farms and published author who taught him how to be an independent thinker, self-sufficient, gritty, and creative. His grandfather invented the WaterPik and was a true example of an entrepreneur. He graduated from CU-Boulder with a degree in Political Science after playing 3 years of Division I basketball where he learned how to play a role and make a contribution to a team while making the Dean's List, Commissioner's Honor Roll and All-Academic first team for the Big XII Conference. After graduating, Brien gained valuable experience as a financial advisor in the financial service industry working at Promark Financial, Axa Advisors, and Wells Fargo Advisors. This combination of growing up in a small rural community, playing team sports, and learning industry perspectives from global leaders in financial services and wealth management are what guides Brien's financial planning practice today. He believes strongly that financial success is based on creating detailed financial goals, formulating a plan of action to keep yourself on track, and enjoying the process. His practice is guided by the code of ethics of a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, CFP® professional to always act in a client's best interest with honestly, integrity, competence, and diligence. He also holds the Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor, CPFA™ designation and has a focus on working with retirement plans.
