At The Lautrup Thompson Team, our family-office-style approach has attracted a loyal circle of referred clients who hope to accomplish more.
Rather than limit the scope of our offering, we limit the number of clients we serve. This allows us to do more for each client. Whether we help someone plan for a comfortable retirement, fund a child’s education, or plan in advance for the sale of their company, we bring focused attention to clients who place a premium on sage advice and innovative strategies.
Our clients' attitudes toward wealth are clearly their own. That's why we make time to understand their mindsets and motivations. By asking questions of both spouses, we learn who they are, who they care about, and how we can serve their best interests. Specifically, we want to know if clients want to pass along wealth (and values) to their children, support a worthy cause, or both. When do they plan to retire? What is their vision of a meaningful life? Do they need help planning for income? Why have they come to us – and why now?"
In addition to knowing a client's goals, it's important to look for "holes" in their financial picture – areas that may need further examination – trust documents, liabilities and insurance, for example. We closely scrutinize how a client's wealth is structured and areas where tax efficiencies can be realized. To complement our efforts, we often coordinate with clients' CPAs and attorneys on tax minimization, pre-liquidity planning, exit planning and estate planning strategies.
Each client's portfolio must reflect their comfort with risk, liquidity needs, investment timeline and their personal goals. Utilizing Merrill's award-winning research, we focus on providing an extra measure of income-generating, tax-advantaged investments across asset classes, sectors and borders. We also examine ways for clients to leverage and consolidate debt, as well as provide access to residential, securities-based and commercial lending through Bank of America.
