Nelly Garcia

Nelly’s financial and civic life has been a profile of consideration and devotion since 2004. Her reputation for caring deeply and sharing financial lessons has attracted a largely referred clientele including successful women and men, entertainers, entrepreneurs, and generations of their families.

Nelly joined Merrill in 2017. Previous to that, she spent eleven years at JPMorgan Chase (including five years at Chase Private Client). Later, she worked at a boutique investment firm for two years.

An enthusiastic “problem solver,” Nelly strives to make things possible, seamless and easier for clients. Implementing her planning approach, she accounts for clients’ values and visions – essentially, what they deem meaningful for themselves and the people they love. She also aims to educate and empower clients to feel confident about making financial decisions.

“Results and relationships matter to me and to clients,” Nelly says, “What do they want for themselves, their families? What motivates them? What do they want for retirement, their enterprise, or their new-found wealth? It feels so good to build effective, real-world strategies for clients, then share their joy when milestones are met.”

“She adds, “I take pride in going deep with clients. By listening, I can understand a client’s comfort with money and what wealth means to them. I tailor my recommendations around a client’s behavior and realities.”

The daughter of a business owner, Nelly was taught the value of doing more than clients might expect. As a result, she sought a career where she could help people and cultivate strong relationships with them.

Nelly holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business from University of Redlands and a place in her heart for serving others. She is Co-director of Programming for the firm’s GL A Chapter of LEAD for Women, which focuses on education, empowerment and professional development for women in Los Angeles. She also volunteers with her high school’s alumni association – to ensure that proud traditions continue, and that scholarships, sports and other student activities receive adequate support from the current administration and community.

Nelly and her husband, Lionell, stay busy with their baby boy, two rescue dogs and enjoy exploring the outdoors with their growing family.
